Fairchild International is an independently-owned-and-operated underground coal mining equipment manufacturer. We have the industry’s most complete line of battery-powered scoops, and have sold more of those units than any other manufacturer.
Since 1965, we have been using our superior technical design, engineering and production expertise to manufacture a wide range of continuous mining and haulage systems, longwall shield haulers, maintenance vehicles, maintenance centers and cargo carriers. The majority of our employees have been with Fairchild for at least 20 years, and many of them have worked for us since the beginning. This high level of continuity is beneficial to customers.
By working closely with customers, we have developed an extensive product line that is the best equipment available anywhere for maximizing operating efficiencies. Customers’ level of confidence in Fairchild equipment has led us to manufacture more than 900 thin-seam continuous mining systems.
Managed Growth Expands Customer Base
Since the company began more than 40 years ago, we have grown from a 10,000 square-foot shop that produced 8-ton miners and 5-tons-per-minute continuous haulage systems to a 135,000 square-foot manufacturing facility that produces 60-ton continuous miners and 40-tons-per-minute continuous haulage systems.
Outside of the United States, our customers operate in Brazil, Canada, China, Great Britain, Mexico, Poland and South Africa.

Our belief in establishing long-term partnerships with customers has enabled operators to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness. These partnerships include extensive training in the safe operation and maintenance of Fairchild's advanced mining equipment.
Fairchild is headquartered in Glen Lyn, VA (near Bluefield, WV), and our warehouses are located in Beckley, WV; Dryden, VA; DuQuoin, IL; Glen Lyn, VA; and Indiana, PA to make equipment repair and refurbishment, as well as obtaining component spares, as convenient as possible.
